Congratulations Graeme Smith ‘100 not Out’!
19 July 2012Graeme Smith a King Edward VII School Old Boy, will on the 19 July 2012, mark a very special milestone, his 100th Test at the Oval!
adidas along with input from Graeme have developed a special boot to commemorate this special 100th test match . Graeme chose a main colour of gold and black to be used in design – gold obviously connecting to the milestone of 100 – adidas used this to highlight specific areas of the boot. The name ‘biff 100’ has been added to the strap of the boot to give it extra special reference to Graeme. Graeme also choose to add the King Edward School VII School crest to the back of the boot, this referencing to his old alma mata.
adidas have also developed a further part to this overall campaign which will involve the following exciting programmes:
Once Graeme returns from his tour to the UK, adidas will be setting up a coaching clinic in Johannesburg at King Edward VII School . adidas will be looking to include one of Graeme’s main mentors in his life (Jimmy Cook) at the coaching clinic. A wonderful opportunity for the boys of King Edward VII School and a prime example of commitment from Graeme to his old school, King Edward VII School and for him to give something back to them.
adidas is currently giving away 3 pairs of boots via their adidas twitter account (@adidasZA) so we encourage all to follow them on twitter. You can also follow the competition being held on Supersport website!

Graeme Smith’s 100 Test Boot
The most sought after world number one test ranking will also be a goal Graeme Smith and his Protea Team will be striving for, when the two titans clash in the three match test series. It is noted that Graeme Smith has a phenomenal record in England – an average of 72.20 – and played a huge role when South Africa won the last series here in 2008. If Smith is in form, he tends to dominate and the rest of the batsmen can take their cue from him. Team mate Jacque Kallis said South Africa had an extra incentive to do well in England, both to pay tribute to captain Graeme Smith and close friend and long-serving wicketkeeper Mark Boucher. “It’s a special achievement to play 100 tests,” he said of Smith. “He’s been captain for most of them as well which is an incredible effort. He’s contributed massively.”
The King Edward Community is extremely proud of one of South Africa’s most unheralded heroes who has managed to successfully surpass all expectations and wishes Graeme the very best for the Test Series ahead and raise our ‘bats’ in honour of such a great leader and sportsman.
Congratulations Graeme 100 not out !
