The University of Edinburgh School of Physics and Astronomy

Keane Quigley matriculated in 2018 with 9 distinctions, a 91% average and was awarded the 2nd position in the Johannesburg East District.
 
Keane is now in 2nd year of his undergraduate degree, Mathematical Physics (BSc Hons) at The University of Edinburgh, and thoroughly enjoying his degree.
 
During his first year, Keane was interviewed and selected to join a society called Edinburgh University Formula Student, which comprises of students from various cultural and academic backgrounds, who come together each year to construct an F1-style race car: a truly cutting-edge piece of automotive engineering and Keane is part of the AI Perception sub team.
 
In the summer break, Keane and a university friend partnered to take part in the Oxford Hack 2020, a 36-hour online development competition. Their application was accepted and the category they were entered into was Hack for World Good. They went ahead to develop the backend of an app using sentiment analysis to filter out negative news depending on a user-chosen threshold and won their category.
 
During an online University ceremony in November, Keane was awarded with a Certificate of Merit from The University of Edinburgh School of Physics and Astronomy for achieving the highest mark across the Mathematical Physics (BSc Hons) degree programmes, in the 2019/2020 academic year.
