Golf: Gary Player scoops top awards at World Golf Awards in November.

Nine-time Major champion Gary Player was voted ‘Golf Course Designer of the Year’ at the fifth annual World Golf Awards. The South African icon scooped top honours at golf tourism’s event of the year, which was hosted at La Manga Club in Spain on Saturday. The 83-year-old also won the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the prize-giving ceremony.
