KES Old Boy Vaughn van Jaarsveld scores ton in SuperSport Series!

Vaughn van Jaarsveld (Class of 2003) struck a majestic century to lead the Sunfoil Dolphins to 269 for five at stumps on the first day of their SuperSport Series match against the Chevrolet Warriors at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in Durban on Thursday. Van Jaarsveld strode to 106 off 178 deliveries with 16 fours and a six while his captain Imraan Khan weighed in with 92 after the Dolphins had won the toss and elected to bat.

The left-handed Van Jaarsveld constructed a superb innings as he first set about blunting the Warriors’ attack before launching an assault. He brought up his fifty off 118 balls but he needed just 44 more deliveries to reach three figures as he took full advantage of a tiring attack on a perfect batting wicket with his 10th SuperSport Series century, including 15 fours and a six. Van Jaarsveld faced 27 balls before scoring his first run but he was soon into his stride as he also managed to bring up his 4 000th first-class run during his innings, but with just over three overs left in the day’s play, his knock was ended.

He received a superb delivery from offspinner Simon Harmer that bounced and turned before finding the outside edge of the bat on its way to keeper Arno Jacobs’s gloves.

Congratulation’s Vaughan!
