Quinton de Kock shines for Bizhub Highveld Lions at Cubs Week!

De Kock, KES Old Boy takes the lead as Lions beat Warriors at Cubs Week:

Quinton de Kock, captain of the bizhub Highveld Lions, showed his class as his side eased past the Chevrolet Warriors on the second day of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Franchise Cubs Week in Stellenbosch. De Kock blasted an unbeaten 82 runs from a mere 53 deliveries. He and Paul de Chaud (20*) chased down the Warriors’ total of 105 in just 16 overs to secure a ten wicket victory. De Kock hit 14 boundaries which included five maximums. Earlier, none of the Warriors batsmen applied themselves. Soft dismissals and a good opening spell from Carmi le Roux (2/22) and Kagisho Rabada (2/14) saw the Warriors dismissed for 105. They were in trouble early on in their innings as they slumped to seven wickets for three with Le Roux removing Jaycin Syman (0) in his first over, while De Kock caught Michael Rushmere (3) behind the stumps of Rabada’s bowling. They slipped further to 34/6 the tail enders gave some flavour to the Warriors’ innings.
Quinton continued his impressive form when he scored an unbeaten 123 from 106 balls to lead South Africa to a nine-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the first match of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Under-19 Triangular Series in Cape Town on Wednesday. The South African captain smashed 13 fours and two sixes to carry his side to a comfortable victory over their neighbouring country.
“The boys bowled really well at the front in the impossible heat, they made it easy to work things around and made my job easier as a captain,” De Kock said.
South Africa started off well with De Kock sharing a 53-run partnership with Chad Bowes before Kyle Bowie scattered his stumps for 12 in the eighth over. After that, South Africa gave Zimbabwe a lesson in focus as De Kock led the runs chase with Cloete backing him up nicely with a patient knock, scoring 59 runs from 77 balls.
